Coming from Tibet, the Mekong river crosses Xishuangbanna before Laos and the rest of south east Asia. Middle sized boats can travel on the Chinese part of Mekong river, although it still looks like a mountain river with rocks and streams. Therefore it is much more pleasant to travel on it with a small motor boat.
