Irkutsk, with 600,000 inhabitants, is one of the main Siberian cities, located on the Angara River, not far from Baikal Lake. Sometimes called the Paris of Siberia, its center, well preserved, displays a unique patchwork of traditional Russian, Siberian and Soviet architectures.
